In order to purchase a hunting permit for Fort Eustis you must be active, retired, DoD civilian, have a hunters safety certificate and a Virginia state license. Register all firearms at the Visitors Center outside the main gate.
Authorized personnel include active and retired military and their family members, regardless of station assignment. Active and retired civilian personnel who are, or were, under the jurisdiction of this headquarters or tenant at Fort Eustis. Civilians may request permission to hunt Fort Eustis by contacting Outdoor Recreation and submitting their name to be drawn for the season. This drawing takes place in September, prior to the start of the season.
All eligible hunters must have State Certified Hunter Education Course Certificate of completion or National Rifle Association Hunter Education Course that is recognized by Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries.
Persons that have purchased a FY15-16 Hunting Permit may purchase a POW (Privately Owned Weapons) Range permit for an additional $15.00. The POW Range pass will be valid for the FY15-16 hunting season. You will be required to complete the POW Range safety class before you purchase your permit, the class is offered the first Monday of every month at ODR Lakeside Club, 828 Kells Drive at 0900.

CEIE will host the second and final UXO Awareness Briefing on 23 October for individuals interested in participating in the Impact Area Management Hunts during the 2017-2018 deer hunting season. Participants must receive UXO Awareness and Impact Area Safety Briefings annually prior to participating in the management hunts. The UXO briefing will occur at bldg. 2432 (Range Operations) from 1730-1830 hrs. Impact Area Management Hunt participants must possess a FE Hunting Permit.

2017- 2018 Deer Season harvest guidelines will be the following: Deer hunters may harvest either sex during the entire recreational purchase zovirax omline deer season. Hunters are limited to two (2) female deer per year in non-urban areas, but may harvest unlimited female deer in urban areas. Deer Population Reduction Program (DPOP) tags will be issued only for antler less deer harvested in urban areas. Urban areas is defined as north of Island Creek and the portions of hunting area 10 and 14B that extend south of Island Creek. The demarcation between urban and non-urban areas will be indicated on the official 2016 hunting map.
